I went on the Honor Flight on October 4th and it will remain in my mind as the most unforgettable experience of my life.
I would like to give a heartfelt shout-out to the guardians because they are so helpful, cheerful and make veterans feel special.
I particularly enjoyed the opportunity to talk with other veterans because trying to explain our experience to a civilian of our time in uniform is very difficult, if not impossible for them to understand. Veterans all have a common time to talk about if nothing more than our basic training and the NCO’s and officers that we were assigned to.
All in all, Honor Flight has done an incredible job for this all-expense paid trip to Washinton to honor veterans. I never would have been able to imagine the outpouring of thanks and honor that was shown us by hundreds of people, including children, at the airports and everywhere we went.
When I got out of the army, I thought that the VFW or Legion was all there was.
THANKS TO EVERYONE IN THE HONOR FLIGHT PROGRAM THAT WORKED SO HARD TO HONOR VETS IN SUCH AN AMAZING WAY!!
